KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- Hopes of seeing former national top mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei reunited may become reality after both players were named in Malaysia’s squad for the Sudirman Cup 2025 campaign, set to take place in Xiamen, China from April 27 to May 4.
According to the list released by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) today, Tang Jie and Ee Wei are among six players selected for the mixed doubles event, alongside Goh Soon Huat, Shevon Lai Jemie, Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin.
Previously, BAM had decided to split the pair, who once ranked fourth in the world, due to a dip in their performance following a strained relationship.
Zii Jia had previously helped Malaysia secure bronze medals in the 2021 and 2023 editions.
This year’s Sudirman Cup sees Malaysia drawn in Group C alongside three-time runners-up Japan, Australia and France.
