ISTAF CONGRATULATES MOHAMAD NORZA AND MOHD SUMALI FOR WINNING THEIR RESPECTIVE POSTS

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Bernama) -- The International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) congratulated Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria for being re-elected as the President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) unopposed, as well as Malaysian Sepaktakraw Association (PSM) President Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan for being elected as the Vice President.

ISTAF secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Kader said the governing body is confident that their leadership will be able to further strengthen cooperation between national and international sports bodies for the development of sports and the country's performance in search of excellence.

"Under Tan Sri Norza's continued leadership, we expect progress in governance, athlete performance systems, and in strengthening Malaysia's position internationally.

"His commitment to innovation, excellence, and collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to new initiatives that leverage the sports ecosystem - from the grassroots level to the global stage," he said in a statement today. 

He also said Mohd Sumali's election had made the Sepak Takraw community proud by reflecting the growing trust in leaders who championed traditional and regional sports.

"With his new role at OCM, Sumali will gain a deep understanding of international sports governance, WADA compliance, and the Olympic movement - an experience he hopes to share to advance Sepak Takraw," he said.

Earlier, Mohamad Norza Zakaria retained his position as the President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia for the 2025–2029 term while Datuk Nur Azmi Ahmad was announced as the Deputy President at the 44th OCM Annual General Meeting today.

Meanwhile, Mohd Sumali who received 80 votes along with four others, namely Azizul Annuar (81 votes), Datuk Mohamad Iruan Zulkefli (65 votes), Nurul Huda Abdullah (62 votes) and Datuk Chong Kim Fatt (56 votes) were also elected as Vice Presidents of OCM.
