KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- The IJM Allianz Duo Highway Challenge aims to draw 12,000 runners for its seventh edition, scheduled for Aug 3 here.
IJM Corporation Bhd group chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director Datuk Lee Chun Fai said the target follows last year’s strong turnout of 10,000 participants.
“This is more than just a number. It reflects the spirit and community support the event has built,” he told reporters at the running event’s launch here today.
He added that this year’s theme, Highway Legend, encourages participants to push personal boundaries regardless of time, distance or category.
Allianz Malaysia CEO Sean Wang said the event, certified by World Athletics, has already reached over 80 per cent of its entry target, with the 21-kilometre (km) half-marathon leading registrations.
The race will take runners along IJM’s New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) highways, with distances ranging from 5km to a full 42.195km marathon.
Registration closes on June 30 at www.ijmhighwayrun.com and the IJM Allianz Duo Highway Challenge Run Facebook page.
