KBS URGES CORPORATE SECTOR TO SUPPORT HAKIM DANISH’S RACING DREAM

25/09/2025 02:39 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has channelled nearly RM2 million this year to support the career development of young national motorcycle racer Hakim Danish Ramli.

Hakim is a product of Sepang International Circuit’s (SIC) two-wheel talent development programme run by ZK Racing.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim said Hakim has always received close support from SIC, with the team’s hub also operating at the circuit.

“The funding required by Hakim Danish is reported to be about RM4 million (to compete in Moto3 next season), while nearly RM2 million has already been disbursed this year. However, the government has its limitations as we know motorsports is indeed very costly,” he said when met at the launch of Eco Lifestyle Med Health here today.

He said KBS has also sought additional funds from the Finance Ministry for the Terengganu-born rider and several other athletes, in addition to working with the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) to explore other possible measures.

“That is why we encourage external parties, especially corporates with the capacity and interest, to step in and help. Hakim Danish himself understands that government funds cannot fully cover the expenses, so more sponsorships would certainly benefit him,” he added.

On the potential of the 18-year-old, who will compete in the Moto3 World Championship next season, Adam Adli said Hakim Danish is on the right track to succeed on the global stage.

“With his young age, growing experience and the championships he has already won, we see Hakim Danish as a huge potential and a very good long-term investment. KBS will continue to give him as much focus as possible,” he said.

SIC yesterday confirmed that Hakim Danish will make his debut at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (Malaysia GP) 2025, scheduled for Oct 24-26, through a wildcard slot.

In a separate statement yesterday, Hakim Danish said he needs nearly RM4 million per season in sponsorship to realise his dream of competing in the Moto3 World Championship next year.

Meanwhile, Adam Adli also congratulated the national futsal team for booking a slot at the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia, despite going down 0-4 to 13-time champions Iran in their final Group G qualifier at the SUKPA Indoor Stadium in Kuantan yesterday.
