FA CUP: SABAH FC CRUISE INTO QUARTERFINALS DESPITE GOALLESS DRAW AGAINST BUNGA RAYA FC

30/09/2025 07:33 PM

SEREMBAN, Sept 30 (Bernama) — Sabah FC booked a spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals after a goalless draw against Bunga Raya FC in the second leg of the Round of 16 at the Tuanku Rahman Paroi Stadium this evening, advancing with a 6-0 aggregate score, thanks to their huge win in the first leg match.

This delayed match took place here after the original fixture at Likas Stadium, Sabah on September 13 had to be halted due to weather conditions.

With a six-goal advantage from the first leg match played at the same venue on August 17, Sabah FC had no trouble dominating the overall game and delivered a more convincing performance than the visiting team.

"The Rhinos" (Sabah FC nickname) created several scoring opportunities, especially through Kumaahran Sathasivam and Muhammad Jafri Muhammad Firdaus Chew, but their attacking line failed to breach the Bunga Raya FC defence, ending the first half with no goals.

At the start of the second half, the squad managed by Jean-Paul de Marigny continued to intensify the game, launching several attempts at the opponent's goal, but still could not find the finishing touch until the end of the match.

The goalless draw sees Sabah FC advance to the quarter-finals with a 6-0 aggregate and they are set to face Kelantan The Real Warriors.
