ASIAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS: HOE YEAN, NUR EILISHA CLAIM BRONZE

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- National swimming ace Khiew Hoe Yean splashed his way to a bronze medal in men’s 400 metre (m) freestyle event at the Asian Aquatics Championships 2025 in Ahmedabad, India, today.

Hoe Yean touched the wall at 3 minutes 52.69 seconds, behind China’s Xu Haibo who took gold with 3:49.29s and Nguyen Huy Hoang of Vietnam who claimed silver with a time of 3:51.63s, during the competition held in Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, both Lim Yin Chuen and Phee Jinq En missed out on a chance to bring home any medal in their respective events.

Yin Chuen finished seventh in the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 51.51s while Jinq En narrowly missed the podium as she came in fourth with a time of 1:10.68s in the women’s 100m breaststroke.

In another development, national diver Nur Eilisha Rania Muhammad Abrar Raj clinched a bronze medal in the women’s platform.

The 20-year-old Sarawakian earned 240.10 points while her teammate Nur Farisya Alia Affendi came in fifth place with 205.40 points.

Both Chinese divers namely Liu Zihan (370.25 points) and Wu Xiahan (298.75 points) claimed gold and silver respectively.

In the meantime, Muhammad Syafiq Puteh emerged as the fifth best diver in men’s 3m springboard after accumulating 355.05 points.

Tai Xiaohu from China won the event with 455.25 points followed by compatriot Lin Hengnuo, who got silver (432.45 points) while Vyacheslav Kachanov from Uzbekistan completed the podium with bronze (368.85 points).
