KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The national badminton squad continued its excellent run in the 2025 World Junior Mixed Team Championships by defeating Canada 2-0 in the second match of Group C in Guwahati, India, today.
In the match held at the National Centre of Excellence, Malaysia recorded a convincing victory with a score of 45-20, 45-16, using the tournament's new format of best of three sets with each set played to 45 points.
This victory is Malaysia's second in a row after defeating Slovakia 2-0 (45-23, 45-14) yesterday, thus placing the national squad at the top of Group C.
Malaysia will complete its group stage by facing Australia tomorrow.
Only the group winners will qualify for the quarter-finals.
In the last edition in Nanchang, China, Malaysia ended the challenge by winning the bronze medal after losing to the hosts in the semi-finals.
