MALAYSIA TO HOST 2029 ASIAN ROAD CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS - AMARJIT

14/10/2025 09:31 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) have confirmed that Malaysia will host the 2029 Asian Road Cycling Championships.

MNCF president Datuk Amarjit Gill Singh, who is also the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) president, said the decision was made on Sept 18 after Malaysia edged out two other countries for the hosting rights.

“I am happy to inform you that Malaysia has won the bid to organise the 2029 Asian Road Cycling Championships.

“I believe this is good news for us as two other countries had also bid, but we won,” he said yesterday.

Malaysia last hosted the Asian Road Cycling Championships in Putrajaya in 2012.

Meanwhile, Amarjit said the decision to award the hosting rights several years in advance is part of a new strategy to ensure better preparation and long-term development for the sport.

“When I took over the ACC presidency in February, I wanted there to be long-term planning, which is why we have awarded (the hosting of) major championships four years ahead.

“This will give us time to plan well in advance and have ample time to prepare,” he said.

Amarjit, however, added that the MNCF have yet to confirm where the event will be held.
