KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Tunku Panglima of Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, ended the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia season on a strong note after finishing second overall in the Pro-Am championship at the final round in Beijing yesterday.

Both Johor Motorsport Racing (JMR) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries delivered solid performances on the new Beijing Street Circuit, each claiming second-place finishes as the season concluded, according to a statement issued by JMR.

In the opening race, professional driver Alexander Sims and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim steered the #66 Corvette to an impressive runner-up finish, while Tunku Abdul Rahman and Ben Green brought the #99 car home in sixth place after a pit-stop penalty.

The final race ended under safety car conditions, with Green and Tunku Abdul Rahman taking second place to confirm the latter’s vice-champion in the Pro-Am drivers’ and third in the GT World Challenge overall standings while Sims and Tunku Abu Bakar finished fifth.

“The emotions are everywhere at the moment. I would’ve loved to have won; we had the chance and we were so close, but we couldn’t do anything or fight being under safety car for a lot of the race. Nonetheless, I’m really grateful for the team.

“It was our first year with the Corvettes, the team did an amazing job and it’s been a pleasure to work alongside them. Today wasn’t our day, but we showed everyone what we’re capable of and that’s something we should all be proud of,” said Tunku Abdul Rahman in the statement.

Meanwhile, Tunku Abu Bakar said: “2025 has been a tough season for me, but I’m happy to finish it strongly with podiums at the last couple of races. There’s still plenty for us to work on and I’m already looking forward to next season,”.

With the GT World Challenge Asia season completed, JMR will now shift focus to the Asian Le Mans Series, beginning with the home round at the Sepang International Circuit on Dec 13-14.
