KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh paid tribute to the late Yap Shing Xuen by placing a Team MAS jersey at her resting place.
Hannah described Shing Xuen as a teenager who loved volleyball and led an active lifestyle.
"I told her mother, Wong Lee Ping, that I wanted Shing Xuen to have our national jersey, and Lee Ping said Shing Xuen would have loved it.
"Sending our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family for their painful loss. Malaysia mourns with them,” she posted on Instagram today.
Sixteen-year-old Shing Xuen was killed after being stabbed, allegedly by a 14-year-old male schoolmate, at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, on Tuesday (Oct 14).
Her remains were cremated at the Nirvana Crematorium in Shah Alam, Selangor, following three days of prayers and tribute ceremonies that concluded last night.
