BERNAMA WINS SME BANK MEDIA PICKLEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP MIXED DOUBLES TITLE

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) emerged as mixed doubles champions of the SME Bank Media Pickleball Championship here today.

Bernama pair Ahmad Aidil Syukri Hamzah and Dayana Nabila Shaipul Anuar beat Muhamad Rohaizam Latib and Wan Nor Faizah Wan Hashim of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) 21-16 in the final match.

Aidil Syukri attributed the win to the strong cooperation with his partner throughout the championship.

“We complement each other on court and I’m grateful for the win. Thank you Dayana for continuing to provide support throughout the match,” he said, while Dayana Nabila said that the championship was not just an avenue to compete, but a way to foster close ties with fellow media practitioners.

“I’m happy to dedicate the win for Bernama. Most importantly this championship isn’t about winning, but sportsmanship and camaraderie among media friends. We learned a lot about strategy and communication as a team, this win is a bonus,” she shared.

Meanwhile Ahmad Syabil Sultan Noordin Ahmad from Bernama was runner-up in the men’s singles, losing to Shahrin Aizat Noorshahrizam of The Malaysian Reserve in the final.

“I intended to put up a stiff fight in the singles. Even though I lost the final, I’m satisfied with my performance and happy to represent Bernama in the championship,” he said.

In the women’s singles category, Bernama’s Strategic Planning Division Chief Harlina Samson was second runner-up, while Berita Harian senior news editor, Datuk Sariha Mohd Ali emerged as champion.

A total of 72 participants from various media agencies took part in the championship.
