LANGKAWI, Nov 21 (Bernama) – Windsikher of Singapore brought Hollywood Samurai’s winning streak to an end at the 35th Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR), claiming victory in the third Class 1 race from Penang to Langkawi.
Windsikher completed the race in 7 hours, 10 minutes and 36 seconds, outpacing Blitz, which finished second in 7:16:54, while Hollywood Samurai settled for third with a time of 7:18:03.
Windsikher skipper Sarab Jeet Singh said he hopes the third-race win will strengthen their bid for a podium finish, adding that the team is prepared to give their all in the final inshore race tomorrow.
“We’ll do our best tomorrow and hope we’re just a little better than everyone else,” he said when met after the prize-giving ceremony today.
Windsikher currently sits in third place with 16 penalty points, while Hollywood Samurai remains at the top with 14 points, followed closely by The Next Factor with 15 points.
The RMSIR, held over nine days from Nov 14 to 22, features 23 teams and will continue with the inshore race in Langkawi tomorrow.
First held in 1990, the regatta is the second-oldest yachting championship in Asia. It was the brainchild of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, during his tenure as the Raja Muda of Selangor.
