MALAYSIA FALL 2-5 TO VIETNAM IN SEA GAMES 2025 BASEBALL CLASH

06/12/2025 04:04 PM

BANGKOK, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s baseball squad suffered another setback at the SEA Games Thailand 2025, losing 2-5 to Vietnam at the Baseball Stadium, Queen Sirikit Sports Centre, in Pathum Thani today.

Despite putting in a determined performance in the must-win match, the national squad struggled to match Vietnam’s intensity and trailed their opponents from the outset.

National baseball head coach Teng Chih Wei said both teams delivered a balanced contest, but Vietnam were more composed and clinical at the crucial moments.

“We were on the back foot from the start, but the players fought hard throughout the game, as both teams were hungry for their first win,” he told Bernama when contacted on Saturday.

Malaysia will next take on the Philippines, who earlier thrashed Indonesia 14-0.

Only the group champions and runners-up will advance to the finals, while the third and fourth-placed teams will contest the bronze-medal match.

The 33rd edition of the biennial Games, which will officially open on Dec 9, is being held in Bangkok and Chonburi and will run until Dec 20.
