BANGKOK, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- The following are brief updates on Malaysian athletes in action at the Thailand SEA Games 2025 today:
CRICKET:
The national women's team’s hopes of reaching the T10 final ended after hosts Thailand defeated them by 51 runs in the semifinal at the TerdThai Cricket Grounds.
Malaysia recorded 31 runs from 6.0 overs, while Thailand powered to 82 runs from 6.0 overs, putting the hosts on track to defend their gold medal for a second consecutive edition tomorrow.
The result also means the Malaysian women’s team now have the chance to replicate their previous achievement in Phnom Penh, where they returned with a bronze medal.
SHOOTING:
In men’s skeet shooting held at the Photharam Shooting Range in Ratchaburi, national athlete Joseph Lee Joon Kit claimed third place with 70 points, while his compatriot Ho Kar Heng finished fifth with 67 points.
Singapore’s Low Jiang Hao topped the leaderboard with 71 points, followed by Thailand’s Matthew Thomas Nekvapil on 70 points.
In women’s skeet, national ace Irene Ting Hooi Yee is in second place after the first preliminary round with 66 points, trailing leader Isarapa Imprasertsuk of Thailand, who scored 72 points. Yemima Natalia Sinaga of Indonesia occupies third place with 58 points.
Two more preliminary rounds are scheduled tomorrow before the final.
WOMEN’S FOOTBALL:
In women’s football, Malaysia went down 0-6 to the Philippines at the National Sports University in Chonburi, concluding their SEA Games campaign without registering a win or scoring a goal.
PETANQUE:
In petanque competition at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University in Pathum Thani, national mixed doubles pair Ayzek Hakimi Safingan and Sharifah Afiqah Farzana Syed Ali advanced to the semifinals scheduled for tomorrow.
