BANGKOK, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The following are brief updates on Malaysian athletes in action at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 today:
CRICKET
Malaysian cricketers moved a step closer to securing their second gold at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 after notching two emphatic wins in the men’s T10 event at the Asian Institute of Technology here.
Fresh from clinching the men’s T20 gold last Saturday, Malaysia brushed aside Singapore by seven wickets before extending their dominance with a nine-wicket rout of hosts Thailand to stay unbeaten in the round-robin competition.
The double victory kept Malaysia firmly at the top of the standings, with the national side set to face Indonesia in their final match at TerdThai Cricket Ground tomorrow.
AQUATHLON
Malaysia settled for bronze in the mixed team relay event after the quartet of Wen May Ng, Sze Hui Teo, Ee Hann Kann and Nicholas Seh Kit Long clocked 1 hour 8 minutes 37 seconds at Leam Mae Phim, Klaeng district, more than two hours from here.
The national team finished behind Indonesia, who struck gold in 1:04:14s, while the Philippines claimed silver with 1:04:58s.
Meanwhile, Malaysia missed out on the podium in the men’s team relay as Harith Aiman Adha Norasli, Qi Yap Yap and Benjamin John Hong Ren Chen finished fifth in 48:59s.
Indonesia topped the event in 46:23s, followed by Singapore (46:47s) and the Philippines (47:32s).
HOCKEY
The national men's hockey squad maintained their undefeated record in the round-robin league after defeating Thailand 6-2 in their final match at the National Sports University in Chonburi today.
The victory allows Sarjit Singh's team to finish the round-robin league in the top position and will face fourth-placed Singapore in the semi-finals on Thursday.
The other semi-final will see Thailand take on Indonesia.
Meanwhile, in the women's competition, Malaysia also fulfilled expectations by advancing to the semi-finals as round-robin league champions, despite a 1-1 draw against Thailand in their final match.
In the semi-finals this Thursday, the national squad will battle Singapore, while Thailand will meet Indonesia.
