KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- A solitary strike by Luqman Hakim Shamsuddin against Imigresen FC at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, tonight was enough to ensure Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) advance to the 2025/2026 Malaysia Cup quarterfinals on 1-0 aggregate.
The young striker scored off a pass by A. Selvan calmly tucking the ball into his rivals’ goal in the 61st minute of the second leg of the round-of-16 match.
It was a highly contested match as both teams tried their best to further advance in Malaysia’s most prestigious cup tournament but luck was on NSFC’s side tonight, and they will meet Selangor FC in the quarterfinals.
In the other Malaysia Cup second leg match tonight, Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC beat Perak 3-0 to advance on a 3-2 aggregate.
The City Boys had an uphill task of overcoming a 0-2 first leg loss, but managed to score two goals - Safawi Rasid (54’) and a freekick by Paulo Josue in the 90th to level the aggregate at 2-2 and put the match into extra time.
Import player Nicolao Dumitru then rose to the occasion to score their much-needed goal near the end of the first half of extra time and set up a quarterfinal meeting for his team against Terengganu.
