M7 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WAS MY MOST PAINFUL EXPERIENCE - SEKYS

26/01/2026 07:41 PM

SEPANG, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- Selangor Red Giants (SRG) player Muhammad Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman described the recently concluded Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M7 World Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia, as the most painful experience of his international career.

Muhammad Haqqullah, better known as Sekys, admitted that several mistakes he made were the reason the squad failed to advance to the tournament’s grand final.

"For me, this M7 was more painful. In my history of playing professionally at the international level, this is the one that hurts the most because there were many moments that could have been changed, including mistakes on my own part," he told reporters upon arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today.

SRG finished their M7 World Championship campaign in third place after a 1-3 defeat to the host representatives, Alter Ego, in the lower bracket final on Saturday.

The lower bracket final between SRG and Alter Ego set a new world record as the most-watched mobile e-sports match of all time, reaching 5.59 million Peak Concurrent Views (PCV), according to Esports Charts.

The previous record of 5.36 million PCV was set during the same tournament in a match between Alter Ego and Team Liquid Philippines (TLPH), making the M7 World Championship the most-watched M-Series edition in history.

Sekys noted that the immense pressure during the match made it difficult for the team to control the situation during the lower bracket final against Alter Ego.

"The pressure was indeed very high at that time, and it was quite difficult to control the game. A few minor mistakes and unexpected things happened, and that led to our defeat in that match," he said.

Commenting on the team's future, the 20-year-old athlete hopes that the SRG legacy will continue to be upheld by the next lineup to ensure Malaysia remains at the highest level of the e-sports arena.

"Whoever is with SRG in the future, I hope this team's legacy can be continued to ensure Malaysia is always at its best and makes the Malaysian people proud. I also pray for the best for the future of e-sports in Malaysia," he said.
