KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) — Malaysian gold medalists at the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics will receive a cash reward of RM5,000 each, to honour their exceptional effort and sacrifice for the nation.
The incentive was announced by the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf) president, Dr Ong Shin Ruenn, who said silver and bronze medalists will be awarded RM3,000 and RM2,000, respectively.
“Each athlete who secures a medal at the 2025 SEA Deaf Games will receive an RM2,000 reward,” he said during an MSDeaf press conference at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil today.
He added that the National Sports Council (NSC) will complement these MSDeaf incentives with its own rewards for the medal winners.
In a related development, Ong announced that MSDeaf will host the National Deaf Sports Awards 2025 (ASPN 2025) this Thursday.
The ceremony will feature seven main award categories, including the Sports Leadership Award, Sports Personality Award, National Coach Award, and awards for the most promising male and female deaf athletes.
