PETALING JAYA, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim scored a brace to steer Selangor FC to a 2-0 win over Vietnam's Cong An Hanoi FC in their ASEAN Club Championship Group A match at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium in Kelana Jaya here tonight.
Faisal Halim, as he is better known, struck in the 60th and 69th minutes to take the Red Giants to the top of the group with eight points after four matches (two wins and two draws) and one step closer to making the semi-finals.
Selangor will complete their Group A fixtures with a top-of-the-table clash against Thailand's BG Pathum United at the MBPJ Stadium on Feb 4.
In the other Group A matches tonight, Tampines Rovers of Singapore dropped from first to fourth spot after losing 4-1 to Buriram United of Thailand, while BG Pathum moved up a spot to second after defeating Dynamic Herb Cebu 2-0.
With Selangor leading Group A with eight points, BG Pathum are second with seven points, followed by Buriram and Tampines Rovers (both on six points), with the Thai club third on better goal difference.
Vietnam's Cong An Hanoi are fifth with four points, while Dynamic Herb Cebu of the Philippines prop up the table with just one point.
The top two teams from Group A and Group B will advance to the semi-finals.
