PSM TO APPOINT THAI CONSULTANT TO STRENGTHEN WOMEN'S TEAM

02/03/2026 04:36 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- The Sepak Takraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) is set to appoint a full-time consultant from Thailand to strengthen the national women's squad ahead of the 2027 SEA Games to be held here.

PSM president Datuk Sumali Reduan said the consultant would help the existing coaches, especially with skills and tactics.

"Our focus is next year's SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, as we are the hosts. That's why we are gearing up from now.

"The consultant won't focus on just the tekong or 'killer’ but on all the women players, so that they can all quickly improve and compete at a higher level,” he said after the Working Committee (JKK) meeting at the National Sports Council (NSC) in Bukit Jalil here today.

Elaborating, Sumali hopes the consultant's appointment can be completed by the end of next month, at the latest, adding that several candidates have been identified and would be called to attend an interview session soon.

"It will be great if we can get a consultant within a month, because we want our women's development to kick off immediately,” he said.
