NEW DELHI, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Azerbaijan has acquired Pakistan-made JF-17 fighter jets in a significant boost for its air force.

The JF-17, a joint venture between China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), was presented to President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday (Sept 25, 2024) during an air show, Azeri media reported.

In pictures posted on social media, Aliyev is seen sitting in the cockpit of a JF-17 Thunder Block III, the aircraft's advanced version, during the Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition (ADEX-2024) in Baku.

"JF-17C modern multi-purpose aircraft have been included in the arsenal of the Azerbaijan Air Force," Ali Alizada, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Iran, said in a social media post.

It is considered a 4.5-generation fighter aircraft and the latest version comes with enhanced combat capabilities.
