MALAYSIAN FOOD AND MOVIE PROMOTION HELD IN NAMIBIA

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The High Commission of Malaysia in Windhoek, Namibia hosted the second debut of the Malaysian Food and Movie Promotion on Friday, Sept 27.

The event  was a sequel to the one held last year at the Namibian Movie Theatre in which the movie ‘Mat Kilau’ was shown, said a statement from the high commission.

It added that this time, the ‘Mat Kilau movie was shown at the Chancery, with a better-equipped sound system and LED screen benefiting the members of the audience numbering 140 people.

“Besides promoting Malaysian food and drinks, guests were entertained by the box office Malaysian film produced by Datuk Yusof Haslam – ‘Sheriff’,” the statement read. 

 According to the high commission, Yusof  also texted the Acting High Commissioner Datuk Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya in expressing his approval for such movie to be played in Namibia and his happiness that the guests would love the movie produced with his son.

The statement said the invited guests came from all walks of life including students from Lim Kok Wing Namibia; the Namibian Malaysian Association members; Malaysians residing in Namibia; diplomatic community; members of the media and television station; businessmen; and also the HBS (home based staff) and LRS (locally recruited staff) of Malawakil (Malaysia’s mission) Windhoek.

The invitees were served with variety of Malaysian food and drinks such as Nasi Lemak, Udang Sambal Besar, Rendang Ayam kerisik; Sambal Tumis served with boiled eggs, cucumber, peanuts and anchovies, and Sirap Bandung drink, it added.

The statement said in addition, Indian Malaysian food such as Roti Canai and Dhal curry and Mee Goreng Mamak were also served. Other Malaysian food in the menu include chicken satay and roasted sheep (Daging Biri Biri Panggang).

According to the high commission, attendees were pleased with the more than two-hour programme, the good food vibes and the movie show.

The high commission even received requests for such event to be held more often as it reflects the active participation of Malaysia in Namibia, the statement added.
