Classrooms and equipment were destroyed by heavy floods depriving many students of their education. Luang Namtha suffered after river banks burst following torrential rainfall.

Prices of  Monthong durians are now selling between US$2.64 and $2.84 per kilogramme, down 25-30 per cent compared to prices during the start of the season in July. Farmers lament that the recent rainy weather has affected the quality of the fruits and pushed down prices.
