DAMASCUS, Oct 26 (Bernama-SANA) -- Syrian air defence systems intercepted several missiles in the early hours of Saturday, following an Israeli airstrike targeting military positions in the southern and central regions, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
According to a military source cited by SANA, the attack occurred at approximately 2.00 am local time and involved "a barrage of missiles" launched from the direction of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and Lebanese airspace.
The source added that the air defence systems intercepted the incoming missiles and shot down a number of them, noting that efforts are still underway to assess the results of the attack.
