  Laos said it is ready to become a full-fledged BRICS member in Kazan, Russia. It wants to be part of the international grouping to support sustainable development, upholding the principles of multilateral cooperation, peace, security and equal development.

 

2. BETTER SALARY FOR LAO CIVIL SERVANTS -- THE VIENTIANE TIMES 

The government is considering raising the minimum salary for civil servants and increasing the quota of personnel allocated to various public agencies next year. The move is to ensure that sufficient officials are available to carry out the government’s work continuously, efficiently and productively.

1. ASEAN MEMBERS MOBILISE  SUPPORT TO PHILIPPINES -- VIETNAM NEWS

Four ASEAN members – Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore are sending transport aircraft to provide humanitarian relief after Typhoon Trami devastated the Philippines. Death toll has risen to 100 and at least 36 people are still missing due to massive flooding and landslides in the country.

 

2. VIETNAMESE FOUR AIRPORTS RESUME OPERATIONS -- VIETNAMPLUS

Four airports in Vietnam’s central region that were temporarily closed on Sunday due to Typhoon Trami have resumed their operations after the storm passed through the region. Typhoon Trami is the sixth typhoon in the East Sea this year.

Gubernatorial candidate Ridwan Kamil pledged on Sunday to provide free education for students at private schools from elementary through high school if elected next month. His campaign platform also includes a promise to create 1 million new jobs over the next five years.
