LANGKAWI, 18 Jan (Bernama) -- The Langkawi Craft Complex, home to a wide array of local craft products, including the island's iconic craft items, is fully prepared to welcome the ASEAN delegation in conjunction with the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMM).

Its Director, Farina Darus, said that preparations have been made, including organising specific activities for the spouses of the ASEAN delegates, who are scheduled to visit the complex tomorrow.

"Kraftangan Malaysia is honoured that the Langkawi Craft Complex has been chosen as a visit destination for the spouses of the ASEAN delegates in conjunction with the AMM.

"During the visit by the spouses of the ASEAN delegates, they will have the opportunity to observe craft demonstrations, including the making of traditional kites (wau), as well as the processes of batik creation and wood carving."

"They will also have the opportunity to paint batik with an ASEAN theme, and will be taken to the Malaysian Craft Exhibition, where we feature products such as paddy flowers from Kedah and the Harumanis  flowers from Perlis," she said here today.

She added that the spouses of the ASEAN delegates will also have the opportunity to explore and shop a diverse range of craft products from across Malaysia, all conveniently showcased under one roof at the complex.

Farina noted that the visit by the spouses of the ASEAN delegates to the complex serves as a platform to highlight Malaysia's craft products, further contributing to boosting tourist arrivals to the country.

The AMM Retreat, held at the Langkawi International Convention Centre, marks the first ASEAN ministerial-level meeting under Malaysia’s Chairmanship for 2025.

More than 200 delegates from 10 ASEAN Member States, along with the observer nation Timor-Leste, are attending the retreat.
