06/02/2025 06:27 PM

TOKYO, Feb 6 (Bernama-Kyodo) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's official car was involved in a minor accident with a police vehicle on the premises of a hotel in Tokyo early Thursday, with no one injured, said the Japanese government, Kyodo News reported.

At around 7.50 am local time, the prime minister's car was reversing to park after Ishiba exited the vehicle to attend a breakfast meeting at the hotel when it hit the police car.

The vehicles sustained minor scratches, and the accident did not affect the prime minister's schedule, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi told a regular press briefing.

A car dedicated to transporting the prime minister was also involved in an accident in December. Ishiba and others escaped uninjured when his official vehicle rear-ended a police car in the western Japanese prefecture of Tottori.

The car hit the police vehicle, which had stopped for a red light at an intersection.
