CAMBODIA 

 

1.TURKISH AIRLINES TO CONNECT PHNOM PENH -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

Turkish Airlines will commence regular flights from Istanbul to Phnom Penh later this year. Cambodia will become the seventh country served by the airline in Southeast Asia and Phnom Penh will be the eleventh  city in the region.   

2.ENGAGING PRIVATE SECTOR TO MODERNISE IRRIGATION -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

The Agricultural and Rural Development Bank will provide loans to private companies to develop irrigation infrastructure to support farming, agro-industry and the rural economy. Modern irrigation systems will ensure water security for agricultural, households and promote food protection.

Customers of Pertamina’s non-subsidised fuel brands have expressed both anger and disappointment over the recent US$12 billion corruption scandal embroiling some subsidiaries of the state-owned oil and gas giant.

 

2.EAST JAVA GAS STATIONS FACE SALES DROP OVER FUEL TAMPERING CLAIMS -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Pertamina Patra Niaga Jatimbalinus has tested fuel at 957 regular gas stations across East Java to verify quality amid fuel tampering concerns. Gas stations reported a 28 per cent drop in sales following the scandal.

 

LAOS 

 

1.VILLAGES ON HIGH ALERT TO AVERT SWINE FEVER OUTBREAK -- VIENTIANE TIMES

About 25 villages are under surveillance following an outbreak of deadly African swine fever. Authorities are taking stern measures to halt the spread of this highly contagious viral disease among swine. The virus could harm livestock farms and damage the industry.

 

2.DEVELOPING CARBON CREDIT MARKET TO PROTECT FOREST -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The Ministry of Energy and Mines is collaborating with international partners to develop a carbon market by developing regulations, strategies and projects that meet Laos’ climate goals. Lao has been promoting investments in carbon credit to ensure forest cover to 70 per cent.

 

MYANMAR

 

1.RUSSIA-MYANMAR FORGING STRONGER ALLIANCE -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Myanmar’s State Administration Council Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow to bolster ties. Myanmar, a key ally of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region, inked several agreements to deepen trade relations. 

 

2.MEKONG-LANCANG PROMOTES PEOPLE-CENTRIC PROJECTS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund showcased its achievements in the region in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. Key accomplishments included water conservation, raising environmental awareness, and the cultivation and preservation of medicinal plant species in Myanmar’s Mekong region

1.CHINA SETS GDP GROWTH TARGET OF 'AROUND 5%' FOR THIRD YEAR RUNNING, DESPITE WORSENING TRADE WAR -- CNA

China will target economic growth of “around 5 per cent” this year for the third consecutive time, according to the annual work report - seen by CNA - that Chinese Premier Li Qiang will deliver at the opening of China’s annual Two Sessions.

 

2.CHINA TARGETS AROUND 5 PER CENT GROWTH IN 2025 AS TRADE WAR WITH US SIMMERS -- THE STRAITS TIMES

China aims to expand its economy by about 5 per cent in 2025, and is unlocking more fiscal firepower to boost growth as a new round of its trade war with the United States escalates.

1. NATIONWIDE INSPECTION OF LAND ALLOCATED TO FARMERS ORDERED -- THE NATION

Dr Chalermchai Sri-on, Natural Resources and Environment minister, has ordered all provincial governors to conduct urgent inspections of 7.2 million rai (2.846 million acres) of land distributed to farmers by the National Land Policy Committee (NLPC).

 

2. D-DAY LOOMS FOR THE SENATE -- BANGKOK POST

Despite strong opposition from the Senate, the Department of Special Investigation's (DSI) special cases board insists it will decide on Thursday whether to launch an investigation into collusion in last year's Senate election.
