JAKARTA, March 7 (Bernama) -- The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) secretary-general To Lam will embark on his first state visit to Indonesia from March 9 to 11, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
During his visit, he will meet President Prabowo Subianto to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and elevate relations between the two countries, according to a statement from Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry.
He will also hold discussions with senior Indonesian officials, including the Speakers of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the People’s Representative Council (DPR), and the Regional Representative Council (DPD), as well as participate in business meetings with entrepreneurs from both countries.
In Vietnam’s political system, the position of CPV secretary-general holds the highest authority, alongside the President, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Senate, forming the core leadership of the state.
The statement highlighted that Indonesia and Vietnam’s relationship has flourished over the past seven decades, strengthened by the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2013.
Both Indonesia and Vietnam share a common vision of becoming high-income nations by 2045 – the year they will mark the 100th anniversary of their independence, the statement added.
