MAKKAH, March 17 (Bernama-SPA) -- The Grand Mosque Security Operations Centre, a cornerstone in safeguarding worshippers, leverages cutting-edge technologies and AI-driven predictive capabilities to enhance pilgrim safety, streamline movement, and ensure optimal service delivery during religious rituals, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Operated by Public Security's Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security, the centre oversees a comprehensive range of security and logistical operations, including maintaining security and managing crowd flow within the Grand Mosque.
The centre's strength lies in its use of high-definition digital surveillance cameras and AI analytics, which process vast datasets to forecast congestion areas. This proactive approach enables timely decisions to mitigate overcrowding, ensure seamless movement throughout the Grand Mosque, and provide accurate traffic updates.
Meanwhile in another report on Sunday, SPA reported the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque is utilising advanced technology, including artificial intelligence, to improve the experience for Umrah performers and pilgrims.
Key innovations include "Digital Mutawwif," a platform providing step-by-step guidance for Umrah rituals, as well as audio-visual supplications, digital Tawaf and Sa’i counters, and navigation within the Grand Mosque.
