RAMALLAH, March 19 (Bernama-WAFA) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has instructed Palestinian ambassadors accredited to Latin American and Caribbean nations to intensify their engagement with governments, parliaments, and civil society organisations in the region, the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA) reported.
Mustafa who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the objective is to halt the Israeli occupation's aggression and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, as well as its violation of the ceasefire while rallying further international support for the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights.
During a Zoom meeting held on Tuesday evening, attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Omar Awadallah, and Director of the Americas and Caribbean Department Suad Subuh, Mustafa reviewed the latest political developments and the Palestinian Government’s international efforts.
The Prime Minister further underscored the critical role of diplomatic efforts in strengthening support and solidarity for the Palestinian cause across Latin America.
Mustafa emphasised the urgent need to expose Israel’s war crimes and work with international partners to halt the aggression and ensure the protection of the Palestinian people in Gaza based on international law.
He highlighted that Israel's resumption of genocide and violations of the ceasefire have resulted in the killing of over 400 Palestinians, with dozens missing and hundreds more injured.
The Prime Minister also outlined the Government's efforts to address the dire humanitarian situation, particularly in Gaza, and the steps taken to ensure the provision of aid and relief to the Palestinian people.
He stressed the vital role of Palestinian ambassadors in amplifying the suffering of the Palestinian people and mobilising international pressure to prevent Israel, the occupying power, from carrying out its plans aimed at the forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
Additionally, Mustafa called for diplomatic mobilisation ahead of the International Peace Conference, set to be co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia in June, stressing the importance of ensuring concrete outcomes that advance the Palestinian cause.
He also stressed the need to secure international support for Gaza’s reconstruction plan, adopted by the Arab Summit, to ensure its effective implementation in a way that addresses the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people and strengthens their steadfastness.
