NEW DELHI, March 21 (Bernama) -- A "new dawn" is possible in relations between Pakistan and India despite their long-standing disputes, Pakistan's top envoy in India said.
Making a plea for regional cooperation, chargé d'affaires Saad Ahmad Warraich said South Asia must march forward with stable peace, equal security and shared prosperity.
"Pakistan has consistently endeavoured friendly relations with other states based on the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. This edifying approach has also guided our quest to seek peaceful relations with India," Warraich said in his remarks at the Pakistan National Day reception in New Delhi on Thursday evening.
"What is required is a constructive spirit, one that prioritises collaborative efforts to find common solutions and not aims to create forced outcomes. The path of diplomacy remains more imperative than ever," he said.
He said "a new dawn" in Pakistan-India relations can emerge by "enhancing mutual understanding, addressing shared concerns and resolving long-standing disputes including Jammu and Kashmir."
