1,002 KILLED, 2,376 INJURED, 30 MISSING IN MYANMAR'S EARTHQUAKE: SAC INFORMATION TEAM

MANDALAY, Myanmar, March 29 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The devastating quake in Myanmar killed 1,002 persons, with 2,376 injured, 30 missing as of Saturday according to the Myanmar's State Administration Council (SAC) team, reported Xinhua.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake jolted the country on Friday afternoon, according to the SAC.

Official reports said that the earthquake caused a power supply system failure. Mobile networks were also not working smoothly, and there was no mobile signal in some areas of Yangon.

Many buildings were damaged, and rescue operations are underway.
