MORE THAN 400 ATTEND AIDILFITRI OPEN HOUSE ORGANISED BY HIGH COMMISSION IN SINGAPORE

SINGAPORE, March 31 (Bernama) – The Aidilfitri Open House organised by the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore on Monday was attended by more than 400 guests, including politicians, foreign representatives, the business community, and the Malaysian diaspora residing in the republic.

Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Datuk Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, said the lively celebration at Rumah Malaysia was made possible through the cooperation of the Malaysian High Commission staff and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Women’s Association (Perwakilan) in Singapore.

“We all worked together to prepare the dishes served to our guests today, driven by the spirit of showcasing Malaysia’s Hari Raya celebrations to the audience in Singapore.

“I hope the spirit of togetherness fostered during this celebration can continue in carrying out our duties and responsibilities for our beloved country," he told Bernama.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Singapore’s Senior Minister of State (Defence and Manpower) Zaqy Mohamad, South East Community Development Council Mayor, Mohd Fahmi Aliman, and Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, Seah Kian Peng.

Meanwhile, Perwakilan Singapore Chairperson Datin Che Norhayati Soib said preparations for this year’s open house were made earlier, including food preparation, decorations, and the layout arrangement at Rumah Malaysia.

Che Norhayati, who is also the wife of Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, said dishes such as rendang, satay, and lemang were prepared in-house without catering services.

“As per tradition in previous years, I personally cooked the rendang. This year, we also grilled the satay and more than 100 bamboo tubes of lemang ourselves in the courtyard of Rumah Malaysia,” she said, celebrating her fourth Aidilfitri in Singapore.

In addition, she said the Malaysian High Commission continued the tradition of distributing mangkuk tingkat filled with rendang and lemang to dignitaries, including ministers in Singapore, as well as the Ba'alwie Mosque.
