PUTRAJAYA, April 17 (Bernama) – Malaysia has strongly condemned Israel’s actions in blocking essential humanitarian aid from reaching the Palestinian people in Gaza, describing it as a brutal and inhumane measure that constitutes a gross violation of international humanitarian law.
In a statement on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) said Malaysia unequivocally condemns Israel’s brutal actions of blocking badly needed humanitarian aid from reaching the Palestinians in Gaza as the Zionist regime continues its ethnic cleansing and genocide in the Palestinian Territory.
The ministry stressed that deliberately preventing the delivery of essential basic needs such as food, water, fuel, and medical supplies to Gaza amounted to collective punishment of a population already facing one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in decades.
“This morally reprehensible action by the regime is also a gross violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant disregard of basic human rights,” said the statement.
Malaysia reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the international community to take immediate and decisive action to compel Israel to cease such actions and to hold the regime accountable.
The ministry also reiterated Malaysia’s call for an immediate end to the conflict and bloodshed in Gaza, and for the full restoration of Palestinian rights, including the right to self-determination and statehood based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“Malaysia remains steadfast in our solidarity with the people of Palestine, and will continue to advocate for peace, freedom and justice on all international platforms,” added the statement.
According to international reports, aid deliveries into the Palestinian territory have been halted since March 2, weeks before Israel broke a temporary ceasefire by restarting aerial bombardment on March 18 and later relaunched its ground assault.
