MOSCOW, April 22 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Gold price rose by approximately 2 per cent on Tuesday, surpassing US$3,500 per troy ounce in the morning for the first time in history, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported based on trading data.
As of 4:52 GMT, June gold futures on New York’s COMEX exchange were up US$63.9, or 1.87 per cent, from the previous close at US$3,489.2 per troy ounce. During the session, prices reached a new all-time high of US$3,504.12 per troy ounce.
Meanwhile, May silver futures were up 0.8 per cent at US$32.783 an ounce as of 4:52 GMT.
On Monday, the gold price reached over US$3,430 per troy ounce, according to trading data.
