Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk held talks with Sihanoukville Autonomous Port. Cambodian officials briefed about the port’s capacity and operations, inland and maritime transport systems, the integration of logistics infrastructure.

1.SOLAR POWER PLANTS FUNCTIONING AFTER EARTHQUAKE - - THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR
Several solar power plants damaged by the earthquake on March 28 have now been repaired. The Thazi, Thabyaywa and Thabyaywa plants experienced damages but engineers have successfully fixed them. These plants can now generate and transmit 80 per cent of their electricity to the national grid.

Myanma Port Authority (MPA) is inviting local and international port operators to participate in an open tender for the long-term operation and management of MPA International Port Limited. The successful company will operate and manage the port under a concession agreement.

The Department of Livestock Development (DLD) is actively monitoring and working to contain the spread of anthrax after Thailand’s first confirmed human death was reported in Don Tan district, Mukdahan province. So far, no unusual illness or death in animals has been detected in the area.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s state visit to Vietnam from May 4– 6 will bolster their 55-year bilateral relations. Bilateral trade stands at RM1.3 billion (US$300) million annually and Sri Lanka has about 30 projects in Vietnam.

Exporters are optimistic about tra fish sales that could touch RM8.5 billion (US$2 billion) this year. Trade pacts such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement are fuelling exports.
