MAKKAH, May 18 (Bernama-SPA) -- Security patrols in Makkah have apprehended three Indonesian residents for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent social media scheme involving fake Hajj campaign advertisements that falsely offered housing and transportation services for pilgrims within the holy sites.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the suspects were detained, legal proceedings were initiated against them, and they were subsequently referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Public Security has urged citizens and residents to strictly adhere to official Hajj regulations and guidelines.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a warning against fraudulent Hajj campaigns, unlicensed offices offering services to pilgrims, and deceptive advertisements.
The ministry emphasised the importance of complying with Hajj regulations and instructions designed to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims, enabling them to perform their rituals smoothly and peacefully.
