SAUDI CLUBS TOP AFC RANKINGS AFTER DOMINANT SEASON

21/05/2025 08:42 PM

RIYADH, May 21 (Bernama-SPA) -- Saudi Arabian clubs have clinched the top spot in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rankings for men's club competitions following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to the AFC, Saudi clubs accumulated 119.957 points, placing them ahead of Japan in second with 107.663 points.

The top ranking comes after a strong showing by Saudi sides in the AFC Champions League Elite, with Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr all advancing to the semi-finals.

Al-Ahli went on to win their maiden title earlier this month.

As a result, Saudi Arabia has secured three direct slots in the group stage of the 2026-2027 AFC Champions League Elite, along with one slot in the AFC Champions League 2.

The AFC rankings are based on the performance of clubs in continental competitions over recent seasons and determine the allocation of slots for upcoming tournaments.
