LIMA, Nov 21 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The Peruvian government has extended the state of emergency declared last October in the capital, Lima, and the neighbouring province of Callao for an additional 30 days, according to local media on Thursday, reported Xinhua.
The measure, which will take effect from Nov 21, aims to strengthen actions against crime and other forms of violence that affect internal order, said the country's official news outlet El Peruano.
The National Police of Peru will maintain control over internal order, with support from the Armed Forces, and determine intervention zones based on intelligence and other technical instruments to combat high-impact crimes, according to El Peruano.
