CAMBODIA

1. MODERNISING SALT PRODUCTION -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

The government is engaging with the private sector to modernise the salt industry by exploring new investments. High-tech salt production, mechanical harvesting, improved storage facilities and contract farming are being discussed. 

 

2. CAMBODIAN ATHLETES HEADING TO SEA GAMES -- KIRIPOST

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia will be sending 333 athletes, coaches and officials to the 33rd SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand. Athletes will participate in 21 sports from December 9 to 20.

A protest against the confiscation of land and plantations within the Tesso Nilo National Park in Riau has cast a spotlight on alleged state-sanctioned land grabbing practices, amid an increasing rate of seizures under the President Prabowo Subianto government.

The Manpower Ministry will bring in governors, mayors, and regents to discuss the country’s new provincial minimum wage (UMP) formula for 2026, aiming to ensure that wage decisions reflect the varied economic realities across regions.

1. NEARLY 200 ILLEGAL SCAM CENTRES DESTROYED -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Security forces have demolished 196 buildings in the Myawady-Maethawtalay (KK Park) area that were illegally constructed to be used as online gambling and scam centres. Another 351 foreign nationals have been detained in connection with the illegal activities. 

 

2. NAVY HOSPITAL SHIP TREATING VILLAGERS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

 A mobile military hospital, Tatmadaw Hospital Ship Thanlwin, is providing healthcare services in villages in Cocokyun Township in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Region. About 465 people were treated yesterday, including 50 surgical patients.

2. LOBSTER FARMS DESTROYED BY FLOODS -- VIETNAM NEWS

 Severe flooding destroyed the country’s largest lobster farming area in Song Cau Ward, Dak Lak Province. Lobsters raised for the past year and ready for harvesting died in floodwaters, and farmers were unable to save their cages.
