CAMBODIA

 

1.FIRM ON ERADICATING ONLINE SCAMS -- FRESH NEWS 

At the 7th China–ASEAN Legal Cooperation Forum in Chongqing, Cambodia pledged to combat cybercrime. Artificial intelligence, encrypted communications, and offshore scam operations controlled by cross-border criminal syndicates fuelled the crime.

 

2.INDIA SUPPORTS MENTAL HEALTH PROJECTS -- FRESH NEWS

The Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh will assist the Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health in implementing projects in schools and prisons.  It will include developing mental health professionals and meditation.

 

MYANMAR

 

1.SHAPING NEW GENERATION OF CIVIL SERVANTS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The government is emphasising training programmes to boost civil servants’ discipline, efficiency and teamwork. Promotions for employees will only be granted after they complete training courses at government institutions. 

 

2.TESTING LNG-FIRED POWER PLANTS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Two power plants in Yangon began testing using liquefied natural gas (LNG). A Floating Storage Unit docked at Thilawa Port will supply LNG via a pipeline to a re-gasification plant before they are supplied to the power plants. 

 

 

PHILIPPINES

 

  1. LPA LIKELY TO DEVELOP INTO CYCLONE NAMED WILMA -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high potential to develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

Authorities released a pygmy slow loris and several wild birds back into the wild in Nghe An province. The species are classified as endangered, precious and rare, and are entitled to protection.

 

2.IMPROVING HEALTHCARE FOR WORKERS -- VIETNAMPLUS

About 15,000 workers across seven provinces and cities will benefit from the government-led free medical check-up. The programme aims to improve the quality of human resources and protect workers’ rights and safety.
