KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva showcased Malaysia's cultural heritage, handicrafts and cuisines at the UN Women’s Guild (UNWG) International Bazaar on Tuesday.
Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the UN and Other International Organisations in Geneva, Datuk Nadzirah Osman, said Malaysia’s participation in the programme also focused on promoting the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) campaign.
“VMY2026 highlights the concept of unity in diversity, reflecting Malaysia’s various ethnic and cultural communities living in harmony.
“This unique diversity forms the foundation of Malaysia’s globally recognised tourism brand, Malaysia, Truly Asia,” she said in a statement.
The annual event organised by the UNWG, which brings together UN Member States, was a vibrant celebration of global cultures and crafts, which also helped raise funds for international charitable causes.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Mission said Malaysia's booth, featuring signature dishes such as nasi lemak, teh tarik, satay and curry puffs, received an enthusiastic response from visitors.
“Attendees also expressed deep interest in Malaysia’s cultural diversity and unique gastronomic traditions, reflecting the strong appeal of the nation’s multicultural identity,” it said, adding that the Permanent Mission will continue to strengthen its efforts to promote the country’s culture, tourism and national branding internationally.
