LAOS

 

1.ADB FUNDS TO IMPROVE FOREST COVER --  VIENTIANE TIMES 

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved RM 41 million (US$10 million) to assist Lao in restoring degraded forests and improving rural income. The funding will also support climate resilience. 

 

2.BUDDHISM TO BE PART OF NATION BUILDING -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone urged Buddhist followers to play a critical role in national unity and socio-economic development. He was speaking at the 9th National Congress of Buddhist Representatives in Vientiane on Tuesday.

1.ENERGY MUSEUM MARKS OIL COMPANY’S CENTENARY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

An energy museum was opened in Yangon, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Thanlyin Oil Refinery. It exhibits petroleum and natural gas exploration process and production, including oil and gas equipment.

 

2.MYANMAR-INDIA ENCOURAGING TOURISM -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Myanmar and India are tapping tourism from both markets. The first Myanmar-India Tourism Promotion Coordination Meeting was held to strengthen ties, and a memorandum of understanding was signed to formalise tourism cooperation.

 

PHILIPPINES

 

1.SAMAR BAY CLEARED FROM RED TIDE, CONDITION REMAINS IN 4 OTHER AREAS -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

The coastal waters of Zumarraga Island in Samar have been cleared from toxic red tide, but the condition persists in four bays in Eastern Visayas, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has reported Wednesday.

 

2.RAINY CHRISTMAS FORECAST IN PARTS OF PH -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

Parts of the country will experience rain due to two prevailing weather systems on Christmas Day, the Philippine Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chinh urged the Ministry of National Defence to develop modern, high-tech weapons and military equipment. Vietnam will focus on developing its defence industry in 2026.

 

2.VIETNAMESE JACKFRUITS TO HIT CHINA -- VIETNAM NEWS 

China will allow the import of fresh jackfruits from Vietnam from June next year once Vietnamese exporters fulfil the phytosanitary requirements. Vietnamese growers must strictly abide by the protocols established by China.
