AT LEAST 25 PEOPLE INJURED FOLLOWING EARTHQUAKE IN PERU - HEALTH MINISTRY

29/12/2025 10:51 PM

MOSCOW, Dec 29 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- At least 25 people have been injured as a result of an earthquake in Peru, the country's Ministry of Health said on Monday, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"The Emergency Operations Centre reports 25 injured, of whom 12 have been hospitalised and 13 discharged after receiving medical care," the ministry said on X.

The 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Peru on Sunday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). Peru is located in a highly seismically active zone along the Pacific Ring of Fire, where the Nazca Plate subducts beneath the South American Plate, making such events relatively common and often leading to significant infrastructure damage and casualties.
