MOSCOW, Jan 4 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, owned by US entrepreneur Elon Musk, said that it will deliver free, uninterrupted internet access to Venezuelans until February 3 amid the security operations in Caracas, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"Starlink is providing free broadband service to the people of Venezuela through February 3, ensuring continued connectivity," the statement on X read late Saturday.
Starlink is a next-generation satellite network launched by SpaceX in February 2018 and designed to provide broadband internet access across the world.
On Saturday, US President Donald Trump said that the United States had conducted a major strike on Venezuela, capturing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and removing them from the country. The New York Times newspaper reported, citing a senior Venezuelan official, at least 40 deaths, including military and civilians.
Several congressmen decried the operation as unlawful, while the US administration vowed Maduro would face trial. Venezuela's Foreign Ministry said it would seek recourse from international bodies over Washington's actions and called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting, set for January 5.
