KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Humanitarian Aid and Relief (MAHAR) has provided winter assistance to over 35,000 Palestinian refugees residing at Al Marka Camp in Jordan through the Johor-Palestine Care Fund initiative.

The NGO's President, Jismi Johari, said the aid – comprising basic food items, winter clothing, and thick blankets –was distributed at the camp, which was established following the Nakba tragedy in 1948, in collaboration with the Malaysian Embassy in Amman and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The aid forms part of the Johor-Palestine Care Mission 3.0, led by the Chief Minister of Johor, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, with the consent of the Acting Sultan of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to continue the solidarity of the people of Johor with the Palestinian struggle.

“This is not just physical assistance; it is a symbol of the love and solidarity of Malaysians who stand with Palestine.

“MAHAR is honoured to carry out this mission on the ground, and we will continue to act as a bridge between Malaysians and those in need. All Johor-Palestine aid missions are conducted under the Ops Ihsan initiative,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

MAHAR, together with an official delegation from Johor led by the Chairman of the Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee, Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid, also had the opportunity to witness firsthand the situation of the refugees and the distribution of aid to the camp’s residents.

Jismi added that MAHAR will continue to strengthen cooperation with the government, state, and international agencies to ensure aid is delivered transparently, efficiently, and with integrity.

The Johor-Palestine Care Fund remains open for public contributions.
