HANOI, Jan 9 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Vietnam has set a target of more than US$23 billion in trade surplus in 2026, reported Xinhua quoting a Vietnam News Agency report Friday.

According to the Agency of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the country aims to raise total export turnover in 2026 by over 8 per cent compared with 2025.

While maintaining traditional markets such as the European Union and the United States, the ministry plans to tap niche and emerging markets, including the Nordic region, and develop specialised products such as organic goods to build competitive advantages, said the report.

Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of more than US$20 billion in 2025, according to the National Statistics Office.
