HAVANA (Cuba), Jan 10 (Bernama-Prensa Latina) -- Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Friday reaffirmed his country’s firm, categorical and proven commitment to national defence, Prensa Latina reported.
In a post on his social media account on X, Rodríguez referred to the United States (US) plan to impose its will on the rights of sovereign states, noting that Washington has applied force and aggression against Cuba for 67 years.
In the post, Rodríguez said that Washington’s position is backed by enormous military power, the size of its economy, and a long history of aggression and crimes.
In contrast, he stressed that the Caribbean nation stands with reason, international law, and the patriotic spirit of its people.
Rodríguez highlighted Cuba’s position, saying: “We Cubans are not willing to sell our country or give in to threats and blackmail, nor to give up the inalienable prerogative with which we build our own destiny, at peace with the rest of the world.”
He concluded his message by stating, “We will defend Cuba. Those who know us know that it is a firm, categorical and proven commitment.”
The foreign minister also said that in multiple international forums, he has denounced aggression and hostile policies against the island, as well as the reactivation of the Monroe Doctrine, which the US uses to justify military interventions in the region.
