CAMBODIA 

 

1.KOREAN FUNDS TO ASSIST DISPLACED PEOPLE -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

South Korea has provided RM2 million (US$500,000) in humanitarian aid to Cambodia through the United Nations Children’s Fund. The funds are to address humanitarian needs following the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.

 

2.NEW ERA IN CAMBODIA-CYPRUS TIES -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

Cambodia and Cyprus are establishing a new bilateral direction by creating a "Tourism Pole". This initiative aims to promote international trade fairs, encourage networking between tourism agencies and private investors and facilitate collaboration with media outlets.

1.PRABOWO TO VISIT US FOR TARIFF DEAL, BOARD OF PEACE SUMMIT -- ANTARA

ndonesian President Prabowo Subianto will make a state visit to the United States in mid-February to sign a reciprocal tariff agreement and attend the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) summit, an official said.

 

2.RELIGIOUS MINISTER RECEIVES 100 TONS OF SAUDI'S DATES FOR RI'S PEOPLE -- ANTARA

Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar on Wednesday received 100 tons of dates from King Salman of Saudi Arabia, which are intended for the Indonesian people ahead of Ramadan.

 

LAOS 

 

1.JAPAN UPGRADES LUANG PRABANG TRANSPORT NETWORK -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

Japan has donated RM22 million (US$5.7 million) to enhance public transportation in Luang Prabang. The funds are to purchase mini electric buses, install charging stations, and set up LED tourist information boards.

 

2.MORE UXO CLEARED IN KHAMMUAN PROVINCE -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

Authorities announced that 1,579 unexploded ordnance (UXO) items have been destroyed and 139 hectares of contaminated land cleared in the Boualapha district of Khammuan province. It will benefit more than 3,000 residents in the area. 

 

MYANMAR

 

1.PROMOTING FERMENTED TEA DELICACY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The Myanma Laphet (tea) Festival to mark the Union Day was organised at Sein Lan So Pyay Garden in Yangon. The tea delicacy is traditionally enjoyed with sesame oil, peanut oil and crunchy beans.

 

2.MOEYUNGYI LAKE WOOS MIGRATORY BIRDS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Moeyungyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary in the Bago region continues to attract more than 10,000 migratory birds this season. The migratory birds arrive at the lake in late October and return by early May.

1.DENR STRENGTHENS BORACAY OVERSIGHT, TIGHTENS ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

 The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has strengthened environmental oversight on Boracay Island and tightened its rules on the processing and issuance of Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECC) and Certificates of Non-Coverage (CNC).

 

2.PH GETS 5 COASTAL SURVEILLANCE RADARS FROM JAPAN'S SECURITY AID -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

The Tourism and Sports Ministry insists the government's plan to reduce visa‑free stays from 60 days should not impact tourism, as most foreign tourists on average stay for less than a month.

Agricultural trade turnover between Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China hit RM10 billion (US$2.6 billion) last year.  Guangxi is emerging as a major transhipment and distribution hub for Vietnamese fruits entering the Chinese market.

 

2.FAMILY DISCOVERS WARTIME BOMB -- VIETNAMPLUS

A family discovered a wartime bomb weighing around 250kg while they were clearing their land to build a house in Xieng Huong village, Nghe An province. Experts safely detonated the bomb.
